Winda Shimizu is the Executive Director of the Hayward Arts Council. In March 2018, Winda was inducted into the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame for Culture and Art. As a commissioner for Supervisor Nate Miley District 4 of the Alameda County Arts Commission, she is devoted to exhibiting the work of young artists in Alameda County. She is bilingual and bicultural in Spanish and English, with a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Public Affairs.
She is the Arts Now leader and ambassador supporting the HUSD Visual and Performing Arts plan, so all students have access to first-rate arts education.
Winda is a former board President of A.R.T., Inc. (Artists Relaxing Together), a non-profit art organization based at the Adobe Art Gallery in Castro Valley. She is a board member of the Castro Valley Arts Foundation (CVAF), the Hayward Foundation for the Arts (HFA), and an executive committee member of the Alameda County Arts Commission.
She chaired the Creative Writing Workshop and the Poetry and Art Show for middle and high school students at the Castro Valley Library while on the board of the Castro Valley Educational Foundation (CVEF). Winda is passionate about promoting the work of local artists to enrich community life.
